I call her Mother Duck. They call her Ms. Ducky.
Except for the first semester of 3rd year, whenever I had a day off from school, I’d use the day to visit my grandma and keep her company. Just recently, my aunt (who lives with my grandma but works during the day) found a nest of eggs in the front garden of their house. Because their house is close to a park, they were scared some kids might find it and mess around with it and called Toronto Wildlife to see if they could relocate the nest. Unfortunately, they cannot relocate the nest in my aunt/grandma’s case since there were no real and significant dangers. On the bright, my aunt and grandma have a new house guest.
Apparently, she’s getting used to people. Before, she’d fly away at the first sign of any disturbances. Today, upon entering the house, she saw the car drive up and didn’t do anything. I got out of the car and walked to the door, nothing. It’s only when I opened the door, she hopped out of the nest, went for a little walkabout, then once the door closed, came back to the nest and sat back down.
Maybe we should lay out some bread crumbs and water…
